Air environment
In the air of this area, the content of the main dose-forming radionuclides Ra226 exceeds the acceptable doze more than twofold. Besides, outside the sanitary-hygienic zone, dust and gas emissions of existing facilities of Eastern Mining Processing Plant cause increased Th230 content in the air when there are critical wind speeds (up to 9m/s).

Soil
There is a high radionuclide content in soils along the line of pulp feed-lines, as well as in the sanitary-hygienic zones of tailings « SHCH » and «KBZH».

The concentration of U238 in the surface C33 soil is 2.7 times higher than the background concentration, the concentration of Ra226 is 2 to 9 times higher, Pb210— 2 to 25 times, and Po210—2 to 17 times. In a westerly, easterly and northerly direction, the gross of radioactive impurity does not spread beyond C33. Souther, it is entirely possible the carryover of contamination beyond C33.

In the residential construction area, most of the territory is characterized by gamma-radiation intensity up to 0.17 mSv/h, that is, within background limits. However, in some areas there is a high content of radionuclides found in the sites of uranium mining waste use (rocks, out of balance ores) as a construction material for foundations of buildings, street pavement, perimeter walk, footpaths.


There are more than 100 objects, which decay products concentration (DPD) was greater than 50Bq/m3. More than 20 object, including kindergartens and schools, had the concentration of DPD above 200 Bq/m3, and sometimes reached 1000 Bq/m3. In 60 houses of the private sector (14% of surveyed) it was also found an excess of radon reaching in some cases 3000 Bq/m3.

Ionizing radiation generated by these sources is one of the human exposure factors.
